Sleep RoutinesOften I have clients who tell me they have trouble getting off to sleep. It is usually because of busy thoughts running through their head.

I have put together a routine which sets you up for a ‘rest-full’ night’s sleep and will help with the busy thoughts in your head, help you relax and recharge for the great day you will have tomorrow.

Step 1
If possible set things up for a smooth run for the next morning. Have your lunch prepared, keys and phone in their usual place, car packed, etc.

Step 2
After climbing into bed, lay on your back, point your toes upwards towards your knees. Feel your shin muscles tighten up.

Step 3
Flex your wrists upwards and feel your forearms muscles tighten up.

Step 4
Stare at the ceiling slightly upward of your eyebrows for 30 seconds.

Step 5
Take a deep breath and hold it for 4 seconds.

Step 6
Breathe out and let your eyes close down as you follow your breath all the way down in to your stomach.

Step 7
As you take your next breath open your eyes.

Step 8
As you breathe out let your eyes close down, relax your wrists and follow your breath all the way down in to your stomach.

Step 9
As you take your next breath open your eyes.

Step 10
As you breathe out let your eyes close down, relax your feet and follow your breath all the way down in to your stomach.

Step 11
Feel the most comfortable part of your body and let that comfort extend to the rest of your body as you say to yourself “I will have a great night’s sleep and an amazing day tomorrow”.
